75% of the health infrastructure in India is concentrated in urban areas

Rural India faces a shortage of more than 10,000 health centers

There are only 2 sub-centers available for every 17 villages in the country

For access on healthcare, technology led Medical Network is needed.

• Hospitals like HIHT can work as HUB.
• As SPOKE, remote Independent clinics & doctors can connect with HUB through Digital, Mobile & Cloud Technology and seek clinical support for patients.

Community Outreach Program is Implementation of this Hub-And-Spoke Model.

Challenges of Comprehensive Primary Health Care (CPHC)

1. Focus issue: Current model did not consider increasing disease burden and rising costs of care on account of chronic diseases. (focus was on RCH and selected few communicable diseases like TB/HIV/AIDS & Vector borne disases etc)
2. Low Utilisation 11.5% households in rural areas and about only 4% in urban areas, reported seeking any form of OPD care - at or below the CHC level (except for childbirth) primary care facilities, indicating low utilization of the public health systems for other common ailments
3. Dominance of Private Sector over 75% of outpatient and 62% of in-patient care is delivered by the private sector. Private sector is constrained by economic returns
